Heavyweight Nigerian Afropop star, Yemi Alade embarks on yet another significant chapter in her career with It’s Yemi Alade; her seventh studio album and the first, full-length project that is the sequel to her 2024 released Rebel Queen.
This project hosts 16 tracks that house collaboration between few artists within various regions of Africa such as Ferre Gola, Spyro, Don Jazzy, Bien, Sofiya Nzau, Njerae, Singuila, Teni, JeriQ and FAVE. This array of guest artistes shows the wide spread of African music within Yemi Alade’s catalogue.
Musically, it shifts between varying textures of Afropop and Afrobeats rather than being at the same pace for the entire listening. Yemi Alade plays the focus across every one of the solo cuts and also links it between these, with a melodic tone and an energetic flow.
This releases comes during an extraordinary period, as she now holds her first Grammy nomination at the 2025 ceremony, a testament to the fact that nearly fifteen years later, the reach she now commands across the entire continent and beyond is what gave this record the platform it currently holds.
